Let’s Do This: It’s Almost Too Late to Donate to Democratic Campaigns Before the 2025 Elections, but Not Quite Yet
Three last minute recommendations before Tuesday

Tomorrow—Friday, October 31— is Halloween. It is also probably the last day you can donate to candidates running in the 2025 elections and still have your donation spent before the polls close on Tuesday.
With that in mind, here are three last minute ideas for any final donations you may want to make before Election Day.
Pennsylvania Supreme Court retention elections
In the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, three Democratic Supreme Court justices—Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty, and David Wecht—are facing their ten-year retention elections. If a majority of voters choose to retain them, Democrats maintain control of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court until at least after 2030. If a majority votes not to retain all three, then the court will be split, and the 2027 elections will determine control.
When Democrats took control of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court after the 2015 elections, they struck down the egregious Republican gerrymander of the state’s congressional districts. After the 2020 elections, the state Supreme Court rejected lawsuits that tried to overturn the election in Pennsylvania.
I have created an ActBlue page that allows you to split a donation between the three Democratic Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justices—Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty, and David Wecht—and Bowers News Media, the email-based, grassroots activism organization associated with Wolves and Sheep. On this ActBlue page, if you wish, you can adjust the amount that you would like to donate to each entity. Further, you can also click through the links on the names of the justices—Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty, and David Wecht—to find out more about each of them, and to donate to them directly on their campaign websites.
Georgia Public Service Commissioner elections
In the swing state of Georgia, there are two statewide elections for the Georgia Public Service Commission, which regulates utilities in the Peach State. Both seats up for election this year are currently held by Republicans. The Democratic candidates are Alicia Johnson (link goes to her campaign website) and Peter Hubbard (link goes to his campaign website).
Democrats have a good chance to pull off wins in both elections. If they do, it will show that a crucial swing state has flipped blue over the past year as it rejects the way Donald Trump and Republicans are running the country. This could convince numerous Republican incumbents in competitive re-election campaigns to opt for early retirement, making it easier for Democrats to retake Congress next year. It will also encourage more Republicans to be openly critical of Donald Trump, weakening his control over his party and thus weakening his power overall.
To make supporting the Democratic candidates in the Georgia Public Service Commission election easy for you, I have created an ActBlue page with both Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard on it, and also Bowers News Media. The amount that you give to each candidate, and to Bowers News Media, can be adjusted. To find out more about the Democratic candidates, you can visit the campaign websites of Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard by clicking on their names. You can also donate to them directly on their websites.
New Jersey governor’s race
In the light blue state of New Jersey, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Mikie Sherrill (link goes to her campaign website) is facing a competitive challenge to become the next governor of New Jersey. Sherrill leads by an average of 4% in the 270toWin polling average, which means she should win but also isn’t out of the woods on this one.
Sherrill’s military file was “accidentally” given in its entirety to an ally of her Republican opponent, which is the sort of act that immediately raises eyebrows with Donald Trump in the White House.
I have created an ActBlue page to give you a way to donate to Mikie Sherrill, and to Bowers News Media, at the same time. The amounts you donate to each entity can be adjusted. You can also visit Mikie Sherrill’s campaign website, to learn more about her and donate to her directly there.
