The election of Donald Trump and the Republican victory in the U.S. Senate has made this a challenging week for Democratic activists, myself included.

However, while it has been difficult, I can honestly report that instead of feeling sad, angry or anxious, I feel stable, engaged, determined and focused on the future. I knew this outcome was a possibility, and as such I mentally and emotionally prepared for it. Similar outcomes took place during my professional activist career in 2004 and 2016, providing me with a roadmap for how to move forward.
