You can assess the state of a presidential candidacy by the numbers. Dollars raised. Volunteers engaged. Polling data.

Or you can assess the state of a presidential candidacy through amorphous factors. Is there energy? Are people excited by the candidate? Can you visualize victory?

While you can look at either set of factors independently, they often reinforce each other. Show me a campaign with strong yardstick measures and I’ll show you a campaign that feels good about itself.

As of today, on both the numbers and the atmospherics, Harris/Walz has all the earmarks of a winning campaign.

Here is where I think things stand as we head into the Democratic convention next week.
