I despise Trump as POTUS! So, forgive me, when I say that it would be a waste of time for trying to utilize the 25th Amendment, or impeachment, to get rid of him. We tried impeachment twice, and it went nowhere. So, why is Senator Ed Markey pushing the 25th, and others pushing again for impeachment? I would guess for optics (as in it looks good), and it wastes time in congress (delaying tactic). This is why the midterms are so important. If (when) the Dems take back the House, and (possibly) the Senate, they will simply need to stall anything that Trump and the GOP try to do. Then, we grit our teeth, and gear up for 2028, and remind people that elections have grave consequences. If Kamala Harris had been elected in 2024, NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. In reality, delay is the best we have. It is called historically "muddling through". It is far better to have "muddling through" than full-fledged Fascism and the corruption that we now have.

An update to this e-mail. I wrote this AFTER Renee Nicole Good was murdered, but BEFORE Alex Jeffrey Pretti was murdered yesterday on January 24. Both of these people were American citizens, and true heroes, and NOT illegal alien criminals. ICE is out of control. They think they are invulnerable, and that everybody who did not vote for the old, demented, orange-haired baboon are domestic terrorists. Believe us, they say, and not your lying eyes. The videos and witnesses tell the truth. Just like January 6th, 2021. If Good and Pretti are domestic terrorists, then count me in as a proud member of their domestic terrorist club. After this, I do not want to hear the word "pro-life" coming out of ANY TRUMP VOTER'S mouths ever again. Also, we have JUST AS MANY Second Amendment rights as ANY TRUMP VOTERS do. Maybe it is now time to utilize them more.

Good analysis, Chris Bowers! One might add the further caveat that getting rid of Trump would leave us in the hands of J. D. Vance, a much more focused and calculating tool of the right wing billionaires.

This was so eye opening, thank you for setting the so-called record straight. Never knew this Amendment had the four sections, so yeah, sadly, this is a non-starter in our polarized political environment. None of the cabinet sycophants you listed would ever do this anyway as you said, since many (if not all, including the odious Vance) would qualify for being removed themselves for the exact same reason, so there’s that.

I have found that over this last 2 months, that I seem to be in the fifth stage of Grief. Although, the fourth stage, depression, vigorously inserted itself between the other stages. It is healthier to fully embrace the 5th stage. The current occupant of the Offal Office, appears to be ricocheting between the 3rd, 4th and 5th stages of Dementia. There will be no disclosure, no revelation, just cover up.

Nature will have to take it's course.

Excellent Post. 😕

Your analysis of Section 4 is incorrect. Section 4 provides two alternatives separated by the disjunctive “r”. The first alternative is a vote by the cabinet. The second alternative is a decision by a body appointed by Congress to review the president’s mental health and two issue a Declaration if they deem him not to be mentally able to continue as president. The Congress needs to by legislation provide for a presidential health review. That body after appointment by Congress can Declare the president not able to continue. Then if the VP agrees, the VP becomes president.

If the GOP were smart they would follow this procedure and establish the presidential fitness board. If the Board agrees that Trump is not fit and Vance agrees, Vance becomes president. Vance seeks power and this would make him president without another election, subject though to impeachment.

For my credentials, I practiced law for 53 years and on Tuesday of this week I won a unanimous decision by the United States Supreme Court that invalidated state affidavit of merit requirements for federal court pleadings allowing my medical malpractice case to proceed.I Previously wrote a Substack on Section 4 of the 25th AMENDMENT

Good point, Chris. The 25th Amendment in this case is out of the question, practically thinking.

Second good point--it's good political theater, catches the imagination of many, and can inspire heightened vigilance about the misdeeds ordered illegally and prosecuted in the courts now by attorneys who know and care about the laws being flouted and broken by 47 *et al*.

Oh, I archived this.

Thanks, Chris. Now we can put that issue aside. The way to sweep all of these miscreants out is to VOTE! Do not sit home on Election Day, thinking that we won. Remember how badly that turned out last November.

But before the midterms, we need to keep a watchful eye on election interference from trump, his minions and especially, our own state legislatures. We must fight them every step of the way.
