We must make sure that Trump loses the respect and compliance of most police and soldiers. We have to have as many friends and sympathizers there as possible — people who won’t attack their fellow Americans or fight against their own rights. We need to tell some progressives that language like “f*** the police” is counterproductive.
Wow, Matt! The prospects you outlined are exhilarating, frightening and daunting all at once. Much imagination, courage and determination will be needed.
I agree with Michael that Trump holding the Military/Police card is the key here. Without their support you would have a physical revolution to change course with much higher odds against success if it comes to that.
We only have to look as far back as the collapse of the Marcos regime in the Philippines, when protestors from all walks of life appealed to the common humanity and nationhood of soldiers sent to repress them. It rang true at that moment, and Marcos power evaporated without having the threat of military violence to support it. It's been done before, and can happen again. We need to remind each other and act towards law enforcement and our soldiers in many honest ways; how we're parents, brothers and sisters and children of the soldiers who swore to uphold the Constitution...not only the president. Most law enforcement and soldiers entered the service with just that in mind....service to country and community.

I really appreciate this historical retrospective. Looking forward to hearing more.
