Chris, I think everything you say is correct, and my only concern is your item 6. Republicans know no one will be buying what they'll be trying to sell, and they've been working very hard to keep people who are less likely to vote for them from voting. Unless you know something I don't know, it will remain to be seen if they will succeed in shutting the polling place doors to anyone but Republicans. I know that sounds drastic, but that's their aim, and they've enacted lots of laws to accomplish it.
Thank you for giving us encouragement by providing solid, well researched reasons for how Democrats can take back Congress.
Just today, a group of Dems from five counties in Idaho got together and worked on a get-out-the-vote project, contacting people who are not registered to vote yet. That strategy, plus getting young Dems involved, are the goals we’re reaching for to make new inroads into this MAGA dominated legislature.
In point #3, you mentioned that higher educated voters tend to vote left leaning. True. What’s annoying about the Repubs is that they always insist that progressive viewpoints are formed as the result of universities “brainwashing” students. No. It’s because higher education teaches students the important skill of critical thinking.
It’s the difference between a telescopic and a panoramic viewpoint that makes all the difference in one’s worldview.
Will we even have elections next year? In the wake of the Fascist Grand Council's (formerly SCOTUS) latest decision, I really wonder.
We will, Brian. Chris addresses this in tomorrow's Ask Us Anything column.
