I sincerely hope that all protesters remain peaceful and remember that any violence will cause others to react negatively. Violence is what the mainstream media are looking for because it makes a better story. We are better than trump and his associates. We should not stoop to violence.
Thank you for the warning, Chris. I respect the fact that your warnings are based on observation, experience and common sense.
Even at the smaller rallies, (like the one I will be attending in Clarkston, WA) we have been advised that if trouble starts, immediately sit down and turn signs over. That way, police on the scene will be able to identify the agitators. We don’t expect violence, but we must be prepared for it.
To all:
I wish you a loud, energetic and safe, successful rally wherever you may be!
Talia is right. If there is any violence or agitations SIT DOWN on the ground and turn your sign over. Do not run. If you sit on the ground it should be clear to police that you are not causing any trouble and the agitators will be clearly recognised.
Fascinating article from Omar, thanks for including, Chris. Also, appreciate your level-headed recommendation as always. This was needed as we approach what feels like some sort of ‘tipping point’ - Peaceful should always rule the day and let’s hope the majority of the NK gatherings this Saturday observe it, including my city.
I was at a protest this weekend when one really crazy person started going up to people and suggesting that we block traffic so the National Guard would come in. Initially everyone simply ignored him, but finally we all to told him (and his partner) to leave, go home, that type of attitude and method was not wanted and not supported. Trying to create trouble is not useful in these times. Expressing our opinions and feelings with rallies/marches/protests is a valid response as long as we can remain civilized in the process.....

Another suggestion: make sure key people in your life know you are attending a rally, give them the details of that rally. If your cell phone has a tracking app, allow friends/family to track you. Or get a tracking app and share with your key people. Get more details in this link from Move On about pre and post protest calls. https://www.nokings.org/?SQF_SOURCE=moveon&link_id=0&can_id=7dedb2a0d235161a0885dba626b50cff&source=email-are-you-attending-a-no-kings-day-event-this-saturday-2&email_referrer=email_2771727&email_subject=are-you-attending-a-no-kings-day-event-this-saturday&&
