Totally agree. Dems should use their messaging machine and fundraising advantages to attack every single Republican up for re-election (and even the ones who are not in the senate during upcoming cycle for instance). Make the GOP and Trump (as you say) OWN this Big Betrayal Murder Bill every single day until next November (at the very least). ‘No retreat, No Surrender’, as the Boss sang 40 years ago.
What I want out of Democrats is a focus on making the cost of living affordable for everyone — and outlawing all harmful business practices. They need a strong branding — not just reacting against Trump and his lackeys. Maybe something like “freedom and prosperity for all”.
I feel that human rights activists’ main weak point is often marketing strategy, perhaps because “marketing” commonly has connotations of dishonesty and inauthenticity. But good marketing is about effectively conveying the true value of your product — not covering up for lack of value.
Thanks for the good read. If things go as they should it should signal that this regime is not headed in the direction most voters want. That is a huge understatement for me personally and I deeply hope
that is true for other citizens too. Let Democracy prevail!
We will hold trump’s, DOGE’s and the MAGAt’s feet to the fire for all the damage they have done and are continuing to do in our country. They’re already taking serious heat for the Texas flooding tragedy.
A D-controlled House is better than an R-controlled House. That’s a given. But with a (likely) R-controlled Senate and Trump in the White House, it can’t do much legislatively - even if it has a significant margin. So, what will it do? Attempt a few sure-to-fail-in-the-Senate impeachments? That sort of show just offends voters who want Washington to do something that benefits THEM. And that will just make them cranky about Democrats in ‘28.
A D-controlled House can conduct oversight of the administration and mitigate the worst impulses being displayed by this Congress, Mark. That would be a tremendous improvement over what we're seeing now. And don't give up on the Senate.
Oversight is important, Matt. I’m in favor of it. It just seems to me that, outside the Beltway — and especially in the context of hyperpartisanship — oversight in its various forms just looks like more theater that doesn’t benefit voters.
You do whatever you can with whatever tools you have. Proactive change will have to wait until Democrats control Congress and the White House. In the meantime, having a share of legislative power will allow Democrats to bolster democracy while it remains under threat, and there is a real value to bringing attention to the abuses of this administration.

Keep hammering away, America!

Exactly, Matt. Now we'll see (hopefully) if Trump and the SCOTUS will allow boundaries to be set! My guess: no.
But, like you said, we do what we can do -- so, let's hope I'm completely wrong. I want to be.
