I’m joined once again by Chris Bowers to talk about why the presidential election went differently than what we expected and what comes next. By every conventional measure of campaigns and elections, Kamala Harris held an advantage over Donald Trump. But the election did not turn into a referendum on Trump’s fitness for office, or a statement about the need to protect democracy or defend reproductive freedom. Instead, like every other election around the globe, it was a referendum on the post-Covid economy where the appeal of an anti-institutional candidate resonated with a decisive group of voters. Chris and I talk about what this means, and where it leaves us as we prepare to move forward.
